You Don't Know What You've Got Till It's Gone

DON'T IT ALWAYS SEEM TO GO

THAT YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'VE GOT TILL ITS GONE

THEY'VE PAVED PARADISE

AND PUT UP A PARKING LOT

-  Lyrics by Joni Mitchell

These lines resonate for many Brentwood residents as we watch an urban jungle rise in some neighboring communities. Our city is fast becoming an oasis in the middle of urban development.

You, the Brentwood voter, will decide if we keep our City's special character or if we pursue a path toward urbanization like some other communities. The City Commissioners you choose in this critical upcoming election will determine the City's future.

Next week, we will provide a detailed Candidate Analysis for your reference. The analysis will report on each candidate relative to our Mission Statement. The upcoming Candidate Forums and summary of the Candidate Surveys will be included in our report.

A city's character is largely determined by it's population density. Change a city's density and you change the city's character.

Brentwood's density is managed through it's traditional zoning standards. Our zoning is the foundation of our city. Our zoning defines our city and the lifestyle of residents. Change our zoning and you change our city.

Zoning decisions will impact our traffic, our schools, our limited infrastructure and our property values. These commissioners and their decisions will affect our quality of life.

One great truth: Brentwood's zoning is only as good as the City Commissioners who enforce it, maintain it or revise it.

Your vote matters. Your voice matters.
